Take
two extreme athletes; Gabrielle Reece & Laird
Hamilton, and push them into the most intense sports
in the world. Then broadcast it to the world...you have
the Extremists produced by Bennett
Productions.
Laird took to the PowerSki
like a fish to water. He launched off the waves like
there was no tomorrow. After riding in the surf for
several hours, Laird came back to the boat to yelling
at the top of his lungs, "wait till we
get these in the huge surf in the outer reefs of Hawaii!"
The shoot went incredibly smooth with the flat water
shooting the first day at Lake Elsinore and
the ocean footage being collected off of San
Onofre, Southern California. The shoot was
getting close to finishing up when the Formula
boat with director Bennett, stars Laird,
Gabrielle and Bob, film crew, captain and $100,000
worth of equipment all realized the waves had picked
up and there was a very large set looming on
the horizon. This first wave in the picture
on the right gave everyone a rush but it was the second
larger wave that swamped the boat.
Luckily the cameraman and audio engineer held their
equipment up high and there were plenty of people to
bail. The show came out great regardless.
Laird
and Montgomery go way back to the days
of Waterworld and
shaping some of the earlier prototypes of the Igniter
JetBoard.
