Wednesday March 16 2005, 5:00 PST

San Clemente, CA. (BUSINESS WIRE), The Miami International Boat Show proved to be a huge success for PowerSki International Corporation and the patented PowerSki Jetboard™ Igniter 330™. This year, PowerSki International Corporation's booth was inside the main facility and featured not only their PowerSki Jetboards™, but also announced the availability of the Supertorque XT™ Marine Drive System as an OEM component for alternate applications. Designers of many of these small watercraft can't wait to try the Supertorque XT™ Marine Drive System for their own products' propulsion systems.

Powerski Jetboard™ Igniter 330™ Gains Sales Momentum at the Miami International Boat Show

Combined with pre-paid orders prior to and during the show, PowerSki International has received over an estimated $5 million in orders. This $5 million represents approximately 950 units in sales/orders including, approximately, 500 fully prepaid payments for PowerSki JetBoards™ with the balance of 450 units as irrevocable letters of credit orders from overseas' distributors. Based on minimum sales goals for the first year, dealers' and distributors' contractually-committed orders are estimated at over 8,000 units. Revenues could reach an estimated $42 to $51 million in Powerski Jetboard™ Igniter 330™ sales alone.

To date Powerski has shipped approximately 130 Powerski Jetboardunits worldwide. Due to low-rate production tooling, and the high price of small quantity piece parts, these early units cost Powerski, approximately, $12K to $15k each. This month, Powerski will be receiving the first Die Cast engines of the 12,000 engines on order from Daesung Fine Tec. Die Cast is a high-rate production tooling process that lowers the cost per engine. PowerSki has lowered the cost of goods for the entire unit's components using three factors; high-rate production tooling, large quantity purchasing, and lowered labor costs.  These three factors allow PowerSki International Corporation to move into mass production with a potential profit in each new Powerski Jetboardproduced.

Powerski International Corporation has also recently signed new distributors in several more countries, as well as new dealers across the US. These new members of the PowerSki team will be added to PowerSki's web site in the very near future.

The PowerSki Jetboard™ Igniter 330™ is the one and only of its kind, A True Motorized Surfboard.

PowerSki International Corporation's patented PowerSki Jetboard™ Igniter 330™ has achieved what no other company has ever been able to accomplish. It's a fully maneuverable high performance motorized surfboard that delivers the ultimate Surfing G-Force turn without the need for a mechanical steering device. Unlike personal watercraft the PowerSki JetBoard does not use a swivel-jet to provide directional control. Bob Montgomery, Inventor/CEO of PowerSki International Corp. states, “It's all about beauty, logic, design and balance.  I knew from the start that to give a rider the real experience and thrill of surfing, it was necessary to place the center of gravity directly below the riders' feet. This is the only way a rider can fully extend their body, almost perpendicular, inches above the water at full speed and achieve a true G-Force surfing turn without any mechanical steering device. There are no steering devices on surfboards. A surfer simply shifts his weight, left or right, over the center of gravity to make a turn. That's what makes the patented PowerSki Jetboard™ Igniter 330™ the one and only of its kind.” (Refer to the physics of surfing).  Bob went on to say, “What makes a stand up Jet Ski so difficult for a novice rider is the inherent instability created by an imbalance by design. A mechanical steering device, a swivel-jet, is placed behind the rider, the power plant, which obviously represents a good bit of the weight, is placed in front of him, couple that with a high placement of the center of gravity and that produces instability.  When the rider turns the handlebars, it throws the rear end out from under the novice rider's feet sending the novice rider into a potential wipe out.  The watercraft industry needed to create a “sit-down” personal watercraft in order to stabilize a novice rider in these sliding turns.  Sitting down also lowers the center of gravity. The novice rider can now more easily control this slide-out effect while maintaining his balance.”

The Physics of Surfing

The sport of surfing has been around for hundreds of years.  From the ancient Hawaiians on long, heavy wooden boards to today's surfers on new, light epoxy boards, physics has always played an integral role in this sport. Since waves have not changed over the centuries, the basic physical principles that apply to surfing have remained the same. This consistency has allowed the surfers of today to harness the physics to develop new board designs that produce a faster, more maneuverable ride.

Balance is one of the keys to surfing. The proper position requires the rider to place one foot toward the tail and the other toward the nose, straddling the center of gravity. Because one half of the rider's weight is on either side of the center of gravity, no rotation occurs and the board is balanced. The rider must place his feet evenly along the stringer to prevent left to right rotation. Deliberate left to right rotation causes turning. - By: Erin Grimley
