Bob Montgomery opened the first all watercraft dealership in the United States in Newport Beach, California. At this time the Jet Ski was being sold primarily through motorcycle dealerships throughout the US with minimal success. Kawasaki was considering closing the doors on the Jet Ski market when Bob Montgomery showed them marketing directly to water minded consumer was the key to increase sales. Bob sold more Jet Skis in the following three years than any other dealer.
Bob's key to success was give the water enthusiast a wide variety to choose from water skis, kayaks, jet skis, wet jets, etc.
Bob went on to start the first demo day program for Kawasaki. By putting the consumer on the jet ski, he was able to increase sales dramatically. This in spite of the fact the original stand-up jet ski was not the easiest craft to ride for some people.
Through the progression of the demo day program, Bob set-up the first jet ski races in Carlsbad, California. This brought increased exposure to the sport along with a wide array of media coverage.
